Is Cyprus in the Schengen area? (2026)
Cyprus is a member of the European Union, but it is not yet a full member of the Schengen area. According to the European Commission, Cyprus participates in Schengen cooperation, but internal border controls with Cyprus have not yet been abolished by the Council (European Commission: Schengen area). Full membership needs a decision by the Council of the EU, so this can change.
